Charles "Bill" William Humphrey

Charles "Bill" William Humphrey, 96, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2020 in Hemet, California. He was born on January 29, 1924 in Racine, Missouri to his parents, Clarence and Eva Humphrey. He moved with his family to Los Angeles when he was 12 years old. Bill entered the US Army in March 1943. He was ranked a Tec5 and participated in the Normandy invasion and the liberation of Europe. He was decorated with the Good Conduct Medal. Bill was later honorably discharged in October 1945. He received an associate degree and worked as an accountant for the Texaco Oil Company for 40 years. In 1948, he married the love of his life, Lorraine Spann. They had three children. Bill was an amazing father and loving husband. In his spare time, he enjoyed all sports, but he was truly a golf enthusiast and was very proud of the hole-in-one he made. He was a very caring and helpful man, who faithfully served as a trustee and deacon at Calvary Baptist Church in Carson, California. Bill will be missed by his loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine Humphrey, his parents, Clarence and Eva Humphrey, and his daughter, Joanne Gray. Bill is survived by his two sons, Richard (Sheryl) Humphrey and Greg (Debbie) Humphrey, eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren and one on the way. A graveside service will be held at Riverside National Cemetery on Friday, October 02, 2020 at 11:15AM.
