Ivy June Hartrum

May 21, 1934 - June 4, 2021

Obituary for Ivy June (Ross) Hartrum On June 5, 2021 the days that were ordained for Ivy June (Ross) Hartrum, 87 years old, lately of Portland, OR were fulfilled. She was the beloved wife of Kenneth Paul Hartrum who preceded her in death on Aug. 2, 2013. She was the mother of Kathaleen (Katie) Hartrum and Timothy Hartrum, beloved aunt to Ric Gearhart and Paul Turner, dedicated grandmother to Melissa Leabo, Brieanna Hartrum and Corinna Savage. She has four great grandsons (Kyle, Colton, Mason and Ryker). She considered Martha Ring to be like another daughter and Martha’s daughters Cassie and Jennie as her granddaughters. She is “GG” to Cassie’s and Jennie’s children Josiah, Isabella, Caleb, Amelia, Adelaide and Chloe. Ivy is also survived by 10 nieces and nephews; children of her older sisters Shirley and Marge. She was born in Sacramento, California, May 21, 1934. At age 18 she met and married her husband of 60+ years, Ken. They were married in the Methodist church in Carson City, Nevada on December 26, 1952. Ivy’s abiding faith in Jesus Christ carried her through the joys and the difficult times of raising a family, marriage to a law enforcement officer, the death of her beloved husband and her failing body. For most of her working life she was an accountant for the State of California, working in the Dept. of Fish and Game, Dept. of Water Resources, and the Corrections Dept. Ivy was an accomplished pianist and musician who used her talent to serve several years as the first church organist for the Rancho Cordova Methodist Church, and as the pianist for The Rancho Cordova Rotary and Elks Clubs. She was an active member of the Rancho Cordova Elks Lodge, Vital Volunteers (an organization supporting the organ transplant programs at Sutter Memorial Hospital). She was an avid reader and her extensive library is legendary as was her intellectual curiosity. She chose to use the Covid isolation time to learn Latin; something she had always wanted to learn. Besides her music and reading, her other hobbies included gardening, knitting, sewing, crochet and embroidery. Her grandkids and some of her great grands were the recipients of quilts that she hand embroidered. A memorial service is scheduled for 19 June 2021 at 11:00 AM at Sunset Presbyterian Church, 14986 NW Cornell Rd, Portland, OR. The service will be live-streamed as well as in-person.
