Mary Annetta Kelly
June 13, 1915 - October 21, 2014
Mary was born in Annapolis, Maryland to Howard and Mary Schaeffer. Her family which included three brothers, moved to Los Angeles in 1920. There her father owned and operated a small neighborhood grocery store. She graduated from George Washington High School in Los Angeles in 1933. In 1942 she married the "Love of her Life," Clifford William (Bud) Kelly. They had a baby girl, Marilyn Lee, that died shortly after birth. In 1945 their son William Robert was born. After selling their Kelly Music business in 1964, Mary and Bud retired to Hemet, where they stayed busy golfing, traveling and attending their grandchildren's sporting events. After the death of her husband in 1981, Mary continued to be active in her church, and enjoyed caring for her friends. In 1998 Mary moved in with her son and daughter-in-law in Lake Arrowhead, where she met many new friends, young and old. She delighted in attending her grandson's football and baseball games, regardless of the weather. She rarely missed a softball game her son was coaching, sometimes riding the Team Bus to an away game. Mary was loved and admired by many of her grandson's friends, who called her "Grandma." She attended Church of the Woods in Lake Arrowhead, where she enjoyed working in the kitchen and volunteered to help in any way she could. Mary is survived by her son William and daughter-in-law Mary of Cathedral City; grandchildren Angela (Ken) Knutson of Bakersfield, Lindsey (C.J.) Weihing of Thornton, Colorado, and William Ryan Kelly of Lake Arrowhead, as well as 4 great-grandchildren, Kyle, Lauren, Riley and Avery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Shriner's Children's Hospital.
