Raymond Anthony Sievers, age 60, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2013 in Los Angeles, CA. Raymond was born to John and Emma Sievers on Thursday, October 9, 1952 in Brea, Ohio. He has achieved his PHD in applied statistics and 2 Master’s degrees. He was a college professor for more than 30 years having taught at Southwestern and Mesa Community College. Raymond enjoyed hiking in the mountains and at Torrey Pines State Park. He loved going to Snowbird when he could for Octoberfest with his family. Some of his proudest moments were when his oldest son, Matthew was born and when he finished his PHD in statistics. The family was very proud of Raymond when he finished the shed he worked on at his home and everyone was so amazed at how well it had turned out. Everyone loved it. Raymond tried to do many little projects on his own (mostly to save money) but also to show himself and his family that he could do it. He liked to run and go kayaking. Raymond not only loved Math, he enjoyed history and would spend hours discussing History with his son, David. Raymond is survived by his devoted wife of 41 years, Betty Sievers of Hemet, CA.; his son Matthew who recently married Yajing Dong) and is living in Nanjing, China while working on his Master’s degree in linguistics; his son, David who attends Mt. San Jacinto College and is planning to pursue a Math degree like his Dad; his daughter, Katherine, who attends University of California-Davis to become a veterinarian; and his daughter, Caroline, who is a Junior at Hemet High school with dreams of becoming a teacher; his brother, John Sievers; and his sister, Christine Sievers. Raymond touched many lives and will be truly missed by all those who were honored to know him and who loved him.
